EquipmentGiant

What Contractors Ask Most

What types of equipment do you rent?

We provide boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, earthmoving equipment, generators, light towers, skid steers, excavators, telehandlers, and much more through our nationwide rental network.

How does Equipment Giant work?

Equipment Giant connects you with our nationwide trusted equipment suppliers through one simple point of contact. Instead of calling multiple rental companies, you make one call and we'll find the equipment you need.

What if the equipment I need isn't available locally?

We'll search our network to locate available equipment nearby and help minimize project delays.

Can I rent equipment personally for use on my own home or DIY project I may be doing?

Yes you can, we are able to rent to businesses' and individuals for all your needs.

Am I able to pay over the phone or with card?

Yes, we offer 4 different forms of payment.  Credit card, digital check, Google pay, or Apple pay for your convenience.

Does Equipment Giant only rent from a specific state?

No, We do nationwide orders all over the U.S.

Do I have to have insurance?

Yes. Appropriate insurance is required throughout the rental. Commercial renters generally need General Liability and Workers' Compensation where applicable. We recommend adding Equipment Giant to Inland Marine/equipment coverage. Acceptable insurance documentation can remove the 14% Insurance Service Fee/Damage Waiver. That fee is not insurance and does not cover equipment damage; the renter remains responsible for damage.

Is the price on the website the total price?

No. Website prices are estimated equipment rental rates based on national averages. Actual rates vary by equipment, vendor and location. Final quotes may also include freight, environmental fees, the Insurance Service Fee/Damage Waiver when applicable, fuel, service fees, applicable taxes and payment-processing fees.

Delivery & Availability

Do you offer same-day delivery?

Yes, same-day delivery is often possible depending on equipment availability and trucking. Some vendors charge extra for same-day delivery. A few days to a week of notice gives us more time to shop rates and trucking.

Can you deliver on weekends?

Our vendors are generally closed on weekends, but our Weekend Special works for many jobs. We can often deliver Friday afternoon, start a one-day rental Saturday and schedule off-rent Sunday morning. The machine may remain onsite until Monday. A one-day rental includes only one 8-hour meter shift; extra meter hours can create additional charges.

What type of lead time do you offer?

Same-day can be possible, but a few days to a week gives us more time to shop equipment rates and trucking. Availability is live and can change until required verification, e-sign, payment and vendor confirmation are complete.

Can Equipment Giant hold a machine for me?

A machine cannot normally be held while a quote is still being considered. The order must complete required ID verification, e-sign and payment steps, and then the vendor must confirm the unit. Until then, availability can change.

Where is my machine?

Contact Equipment Giant for delivery status. We can often use GPS and vendor updates to estimate location and arrival. Delivery windows are estimates because traffic, prior deliveries and trucking conditions can cause delays. Rental time begins when the machine arrives.

Can Equipment Giant guarantee a delivery time?

We provide delivery windows and can often estimate arrival using GPS and vendor updates, but exact delivery times cannot be guaranteed. Traffic, earlier deliveries, loading, trucking and other conditions can change the schedule.

Why did the equipment become unavailable after I received my quote?

Vendor availability is live. A branch may have a machine when we quote it, but another customer can rent it before your order is completed. If you want the quoted vendor and rate, you may be able to wait for another unit; otherwise we will shop alternatives. This is not a bait-and-switch; availability simply changed.

Can Equipment Giant hold a machine for me?

A machine cannot normally be held while a quote is still being considered. The order must complete required ID verification, e-sign and payment steps, and then the vendor must confirm the unit. Until then, availability can change.

Choosing Equipment

What equipment do you recommend for this job?

Equipment Giant can guide you by asking about the task, people or materials being lifted, indoor/outdoor use, surface, required height and reach, capacity, access dimensions and other restrictions. Because we are not physically at the jobsite, the customer must make the final equipment selection and confirm it is appropriate for actual site conditions.

How do I know what size machine I need?

Height is only one factor. We also consider the task, people/materials, horizontal reach, capacity, indoor/outdoor use, terrain, power source, machine dimensions, clearances, turning radius and other jobsite restrictions. This will also be part of Equipment Giant's equipment-selection decision tree.

What information do you need to recommend the right equipment?

We start with the task, whether you are lifting people or materials, indoor/outdoor use, surface conditions, vertical and horizontal reach, load capacity, access dimensions, turning space, power requirements and unusual jobsite conditions.

Operators & Training

Do you offer operators?

No. Equipment Giant rents equipment but does not provide operators. For liability and safety reasons, many vendors will not operate equipment inside customer buildings or work areas either.

Do you offer training?

Yes. We can arrange operator and safety training through participating vendors for an additional cost. Training generally includes instruction, a written test and hands-on evaluation. Train-the-Trainer programs are also available, and certificates can be issued after successful completion.

Can anyone operate equipment?

No. Equipment should be operated only by properly trained and authorized people. Equipment Giant can arrange operator and safety training through participating vendors for an additional cost.

Pickup & Moves

Can I pick up the machine?

Yes, with prior approval. Equipment Giant must approve the truck/trailer, driver and required documentation, including vehicle information and insurance.

Can I move the equipment to another jobsite?

Only with Equipment Giant's approval. We can arrange the move. If you want to transport it yourself, your truck, trailer, driver and insurance must be approved just as they would for a customer pickup. Moving equipment without authorization is prohibited because the unit is assigned and GPS-tracked to the approved jobsite.

Can you move equipment from one jobsite to another for me?

Yes. Equipment Giant can arrange a jobsite to jobsite move. A move often costs about half of a normal round-trip freight charge and can be an excellent way to save money when you have multiple jobs lined up.

Rental Periods

Can I rent equipment long term?

Yes. Standard periods are one day/8 meter hours, one week/40 meter hours and four weeks/160 meter hours. Longer rentals are cycle-billed every four weeks. For rentals beyond three months, we recommend a vendor inspection.

Can I extend my order?

Yes. Contact Equipment Giant directly to extend a rental. Do not call the vendor listed on the machine, because the vendor's system and our order can become out of sync. We can add a day, week or four-week period.

What happens if my job gets delayed?

If the machine has not been delivered, contact us and we can usually adjust the schedule. If it is already onsite, call Equipment Giant before simply adding individual days. Changing to a weekly or 4-week rate can sometimes save substantial money.

Can I run the equipment for a second or third shift?

Rental periods include meter-hour limits: one day is 8 hours, one week is 40 hours and four weeks is 160 hours. Running multiple shifts can exceed those limits and create additional rental charges based on the machine's hour meter.

Equipment Purchasing

Can you help us buy equipment?

Yes. For a fee, Equipment Giant can source new or used equipment, represent customers at auctions and help arrange trucking. Sales are final and as-is, where-is. Applicable taxes remain the buyer's responsibility.

Equipment & Availability

Do you rent cranes?

No, we do not rent traditional cranes because of insurance, operator and liability requirements. For some lighter lifting applications, a telehandler with an appropriate truss-boom attachment may be an alternative.

Do you rent scaffolding?

No. Equipment Giant does not rent scaffolding because it must be erected and used by appropriately trained professionals and carries additional safety, insurance and liability concerns.

Terrain & Surfaces

Will the equipment run on grass or dirt?

Often, but machine and ground conditions matter. Four-wheel drive does not mean a lift cannot get stuck. Wet grass, mud, sand and soft soil can stop even large 4x4 equipment. Turf/balloon tires may be available when requested in advance.

What equipment works best on soft ground, sand, mud or uneven terrain?

Four-wheel-drive rough-terrain equipment with appropriate tires is generally the starting point, and turf/balloon tires can help on grass or sand when available. No tire makes a heavy machine immune to soft ground.

Will the equipment damage my driveway, concrete or landscaping?

Heavy equipment can damage concrete edges, lawns and landscaping. A typical driveway may support some machines, but damage is still possible, especially when driving off an edge onto softer ground. Grass can be severely damaged by heavy equipment. The customer controls where the equipment is driven and is responsible for jobsite surface and landscaping damage.

Equipment Specifications

Can you provide equipment specifications?

Yes. If a particular dimension, weight, capacity or feature is critical, tell us before delivery. We can contact the branch to identify the exact assigned machine and provide manufacturer specifications when available.

How much does the machine weigh?

Equipment can be much heavier than it looks. A passenger vehicle may weigh roughly 4,000–6,000 lb, while construction equipment can weigh 20,000 lb or far more. If weight matters, tell us why: total weight, wheel loading and ground-bearing pressure are different considerations.

Safety

Can you lift people with a telehandler?

Only with the proper approved personnel platform/man basket, correct machine setup and trained operators. People in the platform must use required fall-protection equipment and follow all machine, attachment and jobsite safety requirements.

Do you have to use a harness?

Boom lifts and approved personnel platforms on telehandlers require appropriate fall protection. Scissor lifts use guardrail systems and have different requirements. Always follow manufacturer instructions, employer safety rules and applicable regulations for the exact machine and job.

Do you provide harnesses?

Harnesses are not included and are not rented. Equipment Giant can sell and ship the appropriate harness and lanyard, or customers may purchase their own from a qualified safety-equipment retailer. Make sure both compatible pieces are obtained.

What safety equipment is required or recommended?

Required safety equipment depends on the machine, attachment, task and jobsite. Boom lifts and approved telehandler personnel platforms require appropriate fall protection. Other PPE may be required by the employer, manufacturer or jobsite. Operators should follow all applicable training, manufacturer and site-safety requirements.

Floor Protection

Do you provide tire boots and equipment diapers?

They can be requested when available. Tire boots cover tires to add floor protection. An equipment diaper is an absorbent containment mat placed under a stationary machine to help catch small leaks. Neither guarantees against floor damage or leaks.

What equipment can I use on concrete without damaging the floor?

For finished indoor surfaces, electric equipment with clean non-marking tires is often preferred. Dirt, screws, adhesive residue and debris can still mark floors. Tire boots can add protection, and plywood may be appropriate for some surfaces.

What is the difference between standard tires, non-marking tires and tire boots?

Standard black tires can mark finished floors. Non-marking tires are usually light-colored and reduce marking, but dirt, screws, adhesive residue or debris can still damage a floor. Tire boots are fabric covers placed over the tires for another layer of protection. Inspect tires before driving on sensitive surfaces.

What is an equipment diaper and when would I need one?

An equipment diaper is an absorbent containment mat placed beneath a stationary machine, often for clean or sensitive indoor environments. It is intended to help catch small leaks such as hydraulic fluid, battery residue or water, but it is not a guarantee against leaks or floor damage.

Measuring & Height

How high do I need to reach?

Determine the actual work height first. A laser or sonic measuring device is easiest. You can also use plans or a 45-degree sight-line method. Remember platform height is where your feet stand; working height is higher. With the 45-degree method, add your eye height to the measured horizontal distance.

Changes & Cancellations

What happens if I order the wrong machine?

The machine can usually be swapped, but charges depend on the vendor and whether it has been used. Some vendors may charge only a switch freight fee when there are no meter hours; others may charge a one-day rental and treat the replacement as a new order. Switch freight is often about half normal round-trip freight.

Can I change my equipment after I place my order?

Yes, but timing matters. Before delivery, contact Equipment Giant as soon as possible. After delivery, a switch can still be arranged, but additional freight and rental charges may apply. Checking suitability while the delivery truck is onsite can sometimes reduce cost.

Can I cancel my rental?

Yes, but charges depend on timing. Before payment is processed, a full refund is generally available. After payment is processed, a 10% service fee may be retained. If trucking has already been dispatched or the machine loaded, a dry-run or half-freight charge may also apply. After delivery, a one-day rental, full freight and the service fee may apply.

What is your cancellation policy?

The earlier you cancel, the lower the cost. Before payment is processed, the refund is generally 100%. After payment, it is generally 90%. If trucking is committed but delivery has not occurred, half freight may also apply. After delivery, a one-day rental, full freight and the 10% service fee may apply.

Jobsite Access

How do I know if the machine will fit through a doorway or gate?

Measure every critical clearance in advance, including width and height. Also consider hallways, aisles, corners and turning radius. If clearances are tight, ask Equipment Giant to verify the exact assigned machine dimensions before delivery.

Indoor Equipment

Do you have electric equipment for indoor use?

Yes. Electric equipment is commonly available for indoor work. Depending on the application, propane-powered equipment may also be usable in properly ventilated areas.

Can I use a diesel machine indoors?

Generally, no. Diesel exhaust can create a serious indoor air-quality hazard. For indoor work, tell us about the space and ventilation so we can help source an appropriate electric or other suitable machine.

Account Verification

What is ID verification and why do I have to complete it?

ID verification is company policy before opening a new account. It helps Equipment Giant reduce fraud and protect customers, vendors and equipment. The identification must match the person/payment information required for the transaction.

Breakdowns & Service

What happens if the equipment breaks down?

Call Equipment Giant. A service technician will often try to troubleshoot the issue by phone first. If it cannot be resolved remotely, a technician can go to the jobsite. If the equipment has a mechanical problem, the technician may repair or swap it. If the issue is operator error or lack of operating knowledge, the customer may be charged for the service call.

How quickly can you replace a broken machine?

It depends on availability, location, trucking and how specialized the machine is. If the vendor has another suitable unit available, a same-day swap is often possible. Rare or specialized equipment may take longer.

What happens if the machine gets stuck?

Recovery is the customer's responsibility. Heavy equipment often requires a specialized towing or recovery company because a normal tow truck may not be rated for the machine's weight. Do not attempt an improvised recovery with undersized vehicles or equipment.

Why won’t my boom lift or scissor lift go up?

A common reason is that the machine is not on sufficiently level ground. Lifts use sensitive tilt sensors to help prevent tip-overs and may stop elevation even on a slight angle. Another common cause is exceeding platform capacity. Many lifts are around 500 lb capacity, so people, tools and materials all count.

What happens if a service call turns out to be operator error?

If the machine is functioning properly and the service call is caused by operator error or lack of operating knowledge, the customer may be charged for the service call. Proper operator training can help prevent unnecessary downtime and service charges.

Maintenance & Fuel

Can I service or perform maintenance on rented equipment?

No. Renters should not perform repairs or service work on rented equipment. Basic operator checks such as checking fluid levels and adding the correct fuel are appropriate, but repairs and maintenance should be handled through Equipment Giant and the vendor.

What happens if I put the wrong fuel in the machine?

Machines may use diesel, gasoline, propane or electric power. Putting the wrong fuel into a machine can cause serious damage. The customer is responsible for damage caused by incorrect fueling, so verify the required fuel before adding anything.
